How to install Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 from img File
Hi
The download of Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 is provided in a image file. For a novice it might be difficult to use the image file to install the visual studio 2008 beta 2. So I decided to post on the installation of the Visual studio 2008 beta 2.
You can find the download of Visual Studio 2008 beta 2 here.
http:////www.microsoft.com//downloads//details.aspx?FamilyId=B98A61BA-99B0-40B7-AB6E-5386A2B94217&displaylang=en
remember it’s a big download (around 3.05 Gb) so use a download manager so that You can download them in part and don’t loose the download dbecause of connection failure etc.
The download is an img file. Change the file extension to .iso from .img. Now you need to write the file in a DVD (A CD wont do as the download is too big for it. Remembr to add it to the DVD with the option mount image file to disc. This will write all the file including the set up file in the DVD. Now you can install the application from the DVD as you would do normally.

P.S. I hope Microsoft makes these download a bit easier and also give option to download in part as the full download is pretty large.

Hi,

You do need to install a patch for working properly with the Studio. The patch has been given clearly in the download page instruction.

You can download na dinstall Dot Net framework 3.0 from microsoft and install it. It should not be a problem.

Hope this helps
Vikram

Hi Vikram,

Your blogs are rocking. I am a regular reader of your site.
I want to know that Is there any way to install through hard disk (other than writing on the DVD and then installing)?

Thanks
Manoj

Hi Manoj,

You can find some software which can do the trick without the DVD. I believe they mount the image on the hard disk with some trick. sorry, I am not full aware of the process. (:
